Association for Mentally Handicapped Adults (AMHA) by Dr P Bhanumathi Teacher
2:41 PMToday me and two of my friends spend some time at "AMHA (Association for Mentally Handicapped Adults)" NGO foundation for mentally handicapped people. An organization running by Dr P Bhanumathi Teacher. Lecturer, Sree Kerala Verma College. She has been running the school since 1996 at Karyatukara.
She stays at this school and the school is her home. Teacher had three siblings who were mentally disabled. She grew up in a village near Pattambi, hearing people calling them "Menon's mad children'' so she decided to build a home for the same mentally disabled people. Her husband M Saleesh helped materialise her dream. They mutually agreed for not having children. "My two brothers also live with them and there is no discrimination among my children," she said.
Now Bhanumathi Teacher is a mother of more than 60 people at AMHA. Bhanumathi Teacher's only hobby now is reading. Her advice for the mankind is "unconditional love" for all. It was my pleasure to meet teacher and spend some time with them.
